Vancouver: West End leaf blower battle revs up

It was supposed to be the summer of no leaf blowers in the West End.
But when Councillor Tim Stevenson backed off his demand in July to have the noisy machines banned in consideration of other options to lessen the noise, the leaf blower industry toasted a small victory.
That victory, however, could be short-lived when council will again consider-at the end of the month-banning leaf blowers in the West End, said Stevenson, council's representative to the area running from Burrard Street to Stanley Park.
Council will also likely consider a partial ban, during certain times of the year, that puts more onus on apartment owners to hire reputable landscape companies ...
